An exciting though in the ERC Consolitdator InOutBioLight was always the use of bacteria instead of fluorescent proteins and here it is our first successful piece of work capitalizing on matodextrin to form scattering free spheroplasts that are in addition compatible with PVA. While we do not jeopardize the device performance compared to devices with purified fluorescent proteins, we demonstrate that these filters can be recycled it by simple recultivation of the spheroplast opening a new path toward sustainability at TUM Campus Straubing.

Now enjoy the paper and again we are very grateful to the European Commission for the generous funding of the ERC Consolidator InOutBioLight
