Youssef recently obtained two Bioeconomy Innovation Awards. The first project, entitled “MOF-tastic Transformations: Fortifying Enzymes for Sustainable Chemistry (M-FESC)”, has been awarded alongside Dr. Amélie Skopp (Chair of Chemistry of Biogenic Resources) and Dr. Manuel Ibañez (Chemical Process Engineering). It aims at conceptualizing and synthetizing a series of metal-organic frameworks hosts that stabilize three enzymes for an efficient cascade production of dihydroxyacetone from methanol.
The second project is about the development of fluorescent organic-inorganic hybrid molecules for use in high-performing white lighting devices. This project (SHINE) will be performed in collaboration with Dr. Hemlata Agarwala and Dr. Rafal Bialek, from the Chair of Electrobiotechnology.
Stay tuned for the coming results!
