Our Bio-HLEDs flew to Boston!

Sara brought Bio-HLEDs to Boston! She held an oral presentation at the Material Research Society Fall Meeting and Exhibit 2022, discussing about “All Bio-Phosphors for Highly Performing Low-Energy Bio-Hybrid Light-Emitting Diodes” in the context of symposium SB08 about Sustainable Functional Materials in Photonics, Electronics and Biology.

Sustainability Day 2022: Integrating protein in energy technologies

On the 27th of October 2022, the Chair of Biogenic Functional Materials contributed to the TUM Sustainability Day, showing how to integrate protein materials in energy technologies during the colloquium “What role do materials play in sustainability?“. Sara held the presentation illustrating how to build up bridges between biology and optoelectronics towards sustainable devices. She also highlighted ARTIBLED project strategy in this direction.

On 19/07/2022 Rubén, Alex and Sophia participated on the meeting with local industry to discuss the new technologies developed in the frame of sustainable lighting and photovoltaic.

Great honor teaching the best undergraduate students of Johannes-Turmair-Gymnasium!!

Great honor teaching the best undergraduate students of Johannes-Turmair-Gymnasium!!

Around 40 students spanning from 7 to 11 course of Johannes-Turmair-Gymnasium visited our Chair (Biogenic Functional Materials) at TUM Campus Straubing. Their curiosity was amazingly fresh. We all enjoyed the discussions about how nature produces their own light using chemical reactions, interference, among others. What is more, we discussed about the future of our technology and how our surprises looking at nature, which generates real solutions towards developing a more sustainable technological society.

We are looking forward to meeting them again next year!!

Thanks a lot to Nico Schambeck (Teacher at the Johannes-Turmair-Gymnasium) for this initiative and again many thanks to Stephanie Grümbel, Kelly Lim-Trinh, Marco Hasler and Alexander Mauz for the organization of the exciting experiments and the nice atmosphere working with the new generation of Straubinger scientist.

Accompanying AseBio!

Rubén participated in the annual meeting of AseBio (https://www.asebio.com/; Spanish Association of Bio-companies) in which the advances in the biotechnological sector in Spain are summarized. He presented our advances and ideas in the frame of the European Projects ARTIBLED and InOutBioLight. You can check the details of the interview and discussion in the following link:
