The team around Prof. Costa now consists of 2 subgroup leaders, a technical assistant, 2 team assistants, 4 Postdocs, 10 PhD students and on average 2-4 Master/Bachelor students, as well as 2-4 Research-Internship students.

We are very pleased to welcome M.Sc. Marta Patrian und Dr. Mattia Nieddu to our team.
Marta, our new PhD Student will focus on designing new fluorescent proteins for energy related applications.
Mattia is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow. His research focuses on developing Bio-hybrid LEDs based on fluorescent protein-based nanomaterials.

Protein-based Lighting Team Wins Royal Society Of Chemistry’s Prestigious New Horizon Prize
An international collaboration of scientists at institutions including Technische Universität München, Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and Centro de Fisica de Materiales have been named the winner of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s new Materials Chemistry Division Horizon Prize: Stephanie L Kwolek Award.
Congratulations to Sara for her participation to E-MRS Spring Meeting 2021!
On the 3rd of June 2021, Sara presented our latest work at E-MRS Spring 2021 with a talk entitled Towards highly stable eco-friendly squaraine-protein phosphors for Bio-HLEDs. She presented promising results obtained in collaboration with ARTIBLED consortium about a novel bio-phosphor for Bio-HLEDs based on red-emitting protein-dye systems.
