The holy paper out!
Many of us (Yanyan, Olivia, Youssef, and Luca) involved in a great collaboration with the groups of Victor (IMDEA Energy) and Mousumi (U. Szeged) to discover how critical water adsorption is for the photo-brightening effect in quasi 2D perovskite films for lighting applications.

Our Bio-HLEDs flew to Boston!
Sara brought Bio-HLEDs to Boston! She held an oral presentation at the Material Research Society Fall Meeting and Exhibit 2022, discussing about “All Bio-Phosphors for Highly Performing Low-Energy Bio-Hybrid Light-Emitting Diodes” in the context of symposium SB08 about Sustainable Functional Materials in Photonics, Electronics and Biology.

Another successful work with Bonifazi’s group!!
Thanks to the fruitful collaboration with University of Wien (David Bonifazi) and University of Valencia (Eugenio Coronado), a new family of S-Doped Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) led to the first mid-emitting PAH-based light-emitting electrochemical cells.

EIC Podcast: Vertical farming – will factory-grown food become the new normal?
It was a great pleasure to participate in this European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) sponsored discussion on vertical farming with new innovations as our Bio-LEDs developed in ARTIBLED.
Thank you Antonio Marco Pantaleo, Rubén Costa, Galina Gorshkova, Prashanth Makaram and Aoife Mangan Brite.

Sustainability Day 2022: Integrating protein in energy technologies
On the 27th of October 2022, the Chair of Biogenic Functional Materials contributed to the TUM Sustainability Day, showing how to integrate protein materials in energy technologies during the colloquium “What role do materials play in sustainability?“. Sara held the presentation illustrating how to build up bridges between biology and optoelectronics towards sustainable devices. She also highlighted ARTIBLED project strategy in this direction.

Great time visiting collaborators at Aalto University!
JP, Mattia, and Rubén are very grateful for the warm welcome and the nice discussions with Dr. Anaya and Prof. Kostiainen of the Biohybrid Materials Group (BiHy). There are lot of new results for excellent papers and more ideas to work on.
We are looking forward to hosting you in December.

Closing Cu-MOF MSCA action
We are very thankful for the great support of the MSCA training action on developing new HLEDs based on hybrid metal organic frameworks that are the dream material of Dr. Atoini (Youssef). This project has been very challenging, but results are under reviewing. Stay tuned to get the
new innovations!!
For today we share here a video gathering the most important aspects of Youssef’s research.
